Open Console: Skinner Op. 781 (1929)

As an outcome of our successful SOWO dinner last month, we’ve planned an open console night Monday, November 18th at 7:00 PM at St. Bernard’s Church at Our Lady of Providence Parish, 228 Lincoln Street, Worcester. There is a free parking lot to the left of the church. Gavin Klein is the resident organist here and reports that this instrument is a 3 manual, 32 rank, 1929 Skinner, Opus 781 that’s feeling its age after remaining nearly untouched for 100 years! They are currently fundraising to do a complete restoration on it. Rather than selecting an organ that is huge and in great shape, the group wanted to visit an organ that presented challenges for the organist and that would help us understand how to get the most out of an instrument. Bring a piece to try and let’s see what options we can come up with on this instrument!
