Reflections on the Seattle Convention

Join us for a Zoom meeting and listen to presentations by four chapter members who attended the July 2022 National AGO Convention in Seattle: former Dean, Jonathan Bezdegian, former Sub-Dean Wesley Hall, and Members-At-Large Kiel Krommer and Kevin Neel. Their presentations will help us appreciate the scope and opportunities of the convention, followed by a time for questions. The link will be sent to chapter members prior to the event.

Founders’ Day Celebration

Mechanics Hall's Founders' Day Celebration will take place on Sunday, October 16, 2022 starting at 1:30pm. The day will include a tour of the Worcester Organ and a debut performance of Many Voices: Mechanics Hall Youth Singers. This new initiative includes 5th and 6th graders from throughout the city. You absolutely don’t want to miss this very important day in the lives of these children! Plus, you might learn one or two things about Worcester history and the Mechanics.

Choral Compline

All are invited to participate in a traditional end-of-day worship service featuring the Christ Church Choir, founded in 1893, accompanied by Robert Potterton III (Minister of Music & the Arts) on the III/67 Skinner-Moeller organ. Held every Third Thursday and lasting about a half hour.

Tour: Frederick Piano Collection (LIMITED SPACE)

On Saturday, October 22, a group of fifteen people (maximum) will be admitted at 9:30am to a tour of the Frederick Piano Collection (30 Main Street, Ashburnham). Chapter members may take part for no charge; non-members may attend for $25. This impressive museum includes antique and historical instruments dating from 1790 to 1928; more information can be found here. Participants will have a private, 2.5 hour tour plus a half hour to play some of the instruments. This is first-come, first-serve event; you MUST call 508-335-8234 as soon as possible…

The combined choirs of Fitchburg State University and Christ Church are joined by Li Shan Tan (harpist), Hildy Schilling (violinist), Robert Potterton III (organist), and Dr. Jonathan Harvey (conductor) in a presentation of Fauré's Requiem in D minor, as well as his Pavane in F# minor and Impromptu in Db major.
